A Broad Selection of Merchandise
Handy's warehouse presently has almost 42,000 specially selected stock-keeping units to fill members' needs. Most are nationally advertised brands of merchandise. Over 80 percent of Handy's skus can be purchased one-at-a-time without penalty. Handy carries a large selection of hardware, tools, power tools, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, agricultural, housewares, paint and more --- to enhance each member's store.

Handy Hardware is pleased to announce a partnership with Chase Merchant Services, L.L.C. for electronic payment processing services.
The Warehouse Catalog
Each member is supplied a paper catalog divided into seven (7) bound, three-hole punched sections. Six sections contain one or more related merchandise departments with products arranged in "fine-line class" sequence, and an item index for that section. The seventh section is a complete index for all items in the warehouse plus general information pages. Each section is updated twice a year, eliminating the need for individual sheet changes. A monthly charge covers the costs for updates, market catalogs, specials and profit builder books. A CD-ROM version of the catalog, which is updated quarterly, is also available to our members.
Warehouse Orders
Members buy from Handy at a laid-in net cost plus markup. Members enjoy regular
weekly truck deliveries and a low minimum order of $800.00. A regular order
and delivery day allows the member to plan ahead.
The member transmits his weekly order directly to Handy's compter through hand-held Telxon units, "computer-to-computer" point of sale system, Handy's CD-ROM catalog, via the internet at www.handyhardware.com or by using the Handy Buy system. There are price updates weekly and updates to member file maintenance on merchandise bought through the warehouse. Market orders can be transmitted by computer, and many promotional orders may be placed over the internet at handyhardware.com. Invoice review is available the morning following order placement.
Major Markets
Handy hosts a major merchandise market twice a year with the participation of over 750 manufacturers. Complete with super pricing, buying incentives, and a fantastic Saturday evening reception, these markets represent our two best buying opportunities of the year.
Computer Services
Automatic data processing is provided by an in-house IBM AS400 system conected to C.R.T.s and PCs for on-line information, transaction processing, and file maintenance.
Returns and Defectives
Handy has three basic return and defective plans: Plan I - "Destroy Merchandise in Field" - per vendors instructions, destroy product, and send documentation to Handy; Plan III - "Return to Handy for Vendor Credit" - in this case the product must be returned to the vendor for proper credit; Plan IV - "Overages and Shortages" - discrepancies that occur on Handy truck during shipment and/or delivery.
Insurance
Handy has available an insurance vendor to handle members' needs for property damage, crime coverage, workers compensation, commercial and general liability, umbrella coverage and much more.
